Level Up Quilts

Experience Level: Intermediate, some prior experience recommended

Expand your quilting vocabulary with some applique!
This 3 part class will more firmly establish your roots in basic piecing, and demonstrate multiple options for adding the next level of quilting skills – simple applique.
Plus an overview of the All By Myself quilt as you go method for completing quilts.
Supply List for Level Up Class
Sewing machine in good working order.
Rotary cutting equipment – cutting mat, rotary cutter, rulers – these will be most helpful – 6” x 24”, Larger square.
Favorite notions – extra machine needles, extra bobbins, scissors, seam ripper. Coordinating thread.
Fabric for Argyle
Gray - 2 yards
Purple - 1 ½ yards
Aquas - I used a variety for interest and depth – 10 fat quarters, or 5 half yards, or
2 yards of one fabric
Binding - there is plenty leftover in the gray to make binding, or ½ yard
Batting - 64” x 52”
Backing - 3 yards
All By Myself quilt as you go method needs – there is enough extra yardage in the backing fabric to make matching tubes. If you want tubes to contrast with backing fabric add 1/3 yard.
Pattern available in class.
Intro to Needle Felting: Snowman

Join us for this introductory level class, perfect for beginners, in the exciting fiber technique, new to the Paramount, of Needle Felting!
We will create a friendly snowman as Donna guides us through the techniques needed to safely needle felt. Though we have this specific project for this class, the methods and techniques learned can easily be applied to projects you create outside of class!
All materials needed to create one felted snowman (approximately 5" x 3") are included in the cost of tuition. Tools will be available for use in class.

Quilt to Art

Let your creativity soar as we explore the many options of art quilts!
First a visual overview of many different techniques available to create art quilts and an opportunity to try your hand at some improvisational piecing.
In addition we will adding embellishments to our pieces.
Thirdly we’ll dive into finishing techniques!

Supplies needed:
Week One
Sewing machine in good working order. Extra needles and bobbins, favorite notions, threads in a variety of colors. Fabric – scraps – large and small, lots of them. Rotary cutting equipment – mat, cutter, ruler.
Week Two
Repeat week one plus random findings – buttons, beads, yarns, twigs, keys, the sky is the limit here. Any orphan blocks you really don’t like from other projects.
Week Three
Repeat as before and any other materials you would like to bring!
Wet Felting Unique Wool Vessels!

Discover the unique art of wet felting in this exciting one-day workshop with artist Joe Muehlbauer!
Joe will guide you through the process of preparing your wool for felting, an artform where you use a needle to shape your wool into forms, in this case a small bowl vessel!
The decorative piece that you create is perfect for display and makes a wonderful statement in your space or works well as gift for someone too!
All materials will be provided and tools will be available for use during the class!
