The Treasure Of Trash

Creative folks often talk about turning trash into treasure, but what if trash is the treasure? 

Multidisciplinary lyrical trash artist, Vas Littlecrow Wojtanowicz, will share a deeply moving first-hand account about embracing trash's role in decolonization, the environment's health, and our collective responsibility as human beings. 

During this workshop, participants will be able to create extravagant trash art hailing sticks.

Based on sensory tools developed for Lyricality by Vas, these creations are informed by cultural exchange, neurodivergence and childhood experiences with beachcombing crafts.

Join us for an evening of storytelling, reclamation, and whimsical transformation. 

All materials to create one Hailing Stick are included in the cost of tuition.

Experience the exciting world of pottery in this introductory course, perfect for those new to clay and people looking for a refresher!

This class will focus specifically on throwing basic cylinders, the foundation for a variety of ceramic projects!

Class will include a focus on wedging, centering, pulling walls, creating basic cylinders, and an introduction to decorating with cone 6 electric glazes.

1.) Basic Pottery Tool Kit, including:

-Needle Tool

-Wire Tool (for cutting & removing pots from the wheel)

-Wooden Kidney Tool

-Trim Tool

*Tool kits may be purchased at the Paramount or local art supply stores

Discover the unique art of wet felting in this exciting one-day workshop with artist Joe Muehlbauer!

Joe will guide you through the process of preparing your wool for felting, an artform where you use a needle to shape your wool into forms, in this case a small bowl vessel!

The decorative piece that you create is perfect for display and makes a wonderful statement in your space or works well as gift for someone too!

All materials will be provided and tools will be available for use during the class!

*Please note that students will be working with natural wool fibers during class

Create beautiful porcelain flowers to be enjoyed on their own or enhance your ceramic wares in this exciting class about sculpting!

Expand your technical skills in this class dedicated to fun and unique dimensional surface décor, which will specifically focus on flowers in class but can be applied to other decorative elements as well!

Amanda will help students find success in creating and attaching three-dimensional elements to ceramic forms, using processes she developed as both a professional cake decorator and ceramic artist! Join us in this class that is sure to bring your clay work to an exciting new level!

Build foundational skills for creating portraits in any medium!

Explore demos that cover the principles of drawing a face; understanding what you see when looking at a face, how to capture features, interpreting what you see through line and tone, and hands-on work!

Please bring the following materials:

• Notebook and pen/pencil for taking notes.

• Soft Vine Charcoal

• Charcoal Pencils (Michael’s has a General’s pack that has 3 hardnesses,a white pencil and kneaded eraser,available at art stores as well.)

• Kneaded Eraser

• Economical Sketching Paper (I recommend Strathmore sketching paper or similar,at least 14” x 18”) several sheets.

• 2 sheets of Charcoal drawing paper at least 16”x 20” (I like Stonehenge, from Wet Paint—I like a smoother surface, but bring paper that’s comfortable for you)white or tinted. Be sure to have a white charcoal pencil if you bring tinted.

• Masking tape or clips to secure your paper.

• Paper towels for blending charcoal.

• Pencil SharpenerI have easels, wooden stools, small tables, and drawing boards, but feel free to bring adrawing board if you have a favorite.

Create a beautiful copper foil stained glass sun catcher, in this class for the complete beginner, using our design or one of your own!

Students can choose  a pattern and will learn how to safely cut and shape your glass using tools and glass equipment such as the grinder. Once you have your shapes set, you will apply copper foil, and solder!

Kristina will help guide you to success so that you have a piece to proudly display in your space!
